The Adore Eucharistic Youth Conference will be held at St. Andrew Church in Roswell on Friday to Sunday, Aug. 20-22. Sponsored by the Georgia chapter of the Alliance of the Holy Family International, the conference will be led by Father Edgardo “Bing” Arellano and Father Jose Viola, Oblate Apostle of the Two Hearts, the spiritual directors of the Alliance of the Two Hearts.
Held for the first time in Atlanta this year, the conference has been held annually in the U.S. and abroad since 2003. It is an opportunity for the youth of the archdiocese ages 13-23 to gather to increase their awareness of the “heart of the church, which is our Eucharistic Lord, in His True Presence, as the source and summit of our faith” (Pope John Paul II).
Organizers of the Adore 2010 youth conference seek to guide young people as they journey to encounter Christ in the Eucharist, through education on the faith and church teachings and through Tridentine rite liturgies.
Events will be held on Friday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cost is $100 per person, with discounts for families with three or more children. The cost includes a registration kit and meals for the three days. The non-refundable deposit for registration is $25, and $75 is due by Aug. 7. Hotel discounts are available for out-of-town guests. A registration form and medical consent form is available at www.allianceoftwo heartsgeorgia.com.
An informational weekend will be offered prior to the youth conference and will be led by Father Viola, who also serves as the spiritual director for International Adore youth. Beginning on Friday, Aug. 6, the session will be held from 5-9 p.m. at St. Andrew Church, before the First Friday/First Saturday Communion of Reparation vigil, which is held at the parish each month. The orientation will continue after the vigil on Saturday, Aug. 7, with a session open to all youth, families and parish youth directors, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m.
St. Andrew Church is located at 675 Riverside Road, Roswell.
