Proper Formation of Conscience

Abbé Demets will present a brief overview of what a conscience is and how it is properly formed both from natural and supernatural sources of objective truth. There is such a thing as culpable ignorance; therefore one does have a positive moral obligation to form a good (well formed) conscience. Abbé Demets will reveal the proper interior disposition necessary to form a good conscience and give us both practical and spiritual pointers on how to develop our consciences, a life long endeavor.

 The Dictatorship of Relativism
Raymond de Souza’s presentation will be on “Relativism” which was denounced by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger at the Mass of the Conclave that elected him Pope. Relativism states that everyone makes his own truth. Quite contrary to the popular slogan “We report, You Decide,” Raymond argues to prove that truth is objective, not subjective. One's opinions do not change reality. This talk is a must for everyone who wants to clarify concepts and defend the Catholic Faith with persuasion and logic.

FINALLY THE MOBILE ARCHDIOCESE ALLOWS THE MASS

For those who have been fighting for the Latin Mass in the Mobile Archdiocese, we have had nothing but "NO" for so many years. Well times have changed and the new Vicar General of the Archdiocese has graciously learned the Latin Mass and has agreed to say a Missa Cantata in the Cathedral. Una Voce wishes to publicly thank Father Martin for doing this. God Bless him!!!!!

On Friday July 29th at 7:30 pm there will be a historic Latin Mass in the Mobile Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Father Martin, the new Cathedral Rector and new Vicar General of the Archdiocese  has agreed to celebrate a Requiem Mass for the deceased singers & benefactors of the Musica Sacra choir and Chamber Orchestra. The setting that Musica Sacra will sing, of the ordinary, is that of Maurice Durufle, late titular organist of St. Etienne du Mont in Paris.  The propers will mostly be Gregorian, with the Tract a setting for female voices in harmony.

Helpful Hints

Below are some helpful points that may need clarification around the state:

1. There are to be no altar girls and no communion in the hand, Communion is kneeling and on the tongue. There are no laymen lectors. There is no mixing of rites. ( see article # 28 of Unniversae Ecclessie)

2. The mass is to be said in Latin and not a mixture of English and Latin. The only exception to this is that the Epistle and Gospel can be read solely in English by the priest at a low mass.
(permitted but not required) At a high mass it must first be read in latin by the priest. The custom in this situation is for the priest to read the Epistle and Gospel in English when he mounts the pulpit before he preaches the sermon. ( see article # 26 of Unniverase Ecclessie)

If you encounter any problems REMEMBER DO NOT CONFRONT A PRIEST ABOUT THIS. Our priests want to follow the rubrics . They are learning the mass for the first time . It is VERY difficult for our priests to learn the mass on their own. They cannot become experts over night. Often you may think the priest is doing something wrong and in fact he will be following the rubrics and you are the one that is incorrect. If you encounter some problem. DO NOT get upset, be thankful your priest is taking the time and effort to say the mass. When you can, in charity and humility mention the problem to the priest IN PRIVATE !!!! If done in charity and privately the priest will be glad to correct the problem. After that thank the priest for his vocation and ask for his blessing.
