Helpful Hints

Below are some helpful points that may need clarification around the state:

1. There are to be no altar girls and no communion in the hand, Communion is kneeling and on the tongue. There are no laymen lectors. There is no mixing of rites. ( see article # 28 of Unniversae Ecclessie)

2. The mass is to be said in Latin and not a mixture of English and Latin. The only exception to this is that the Epistle and Gospel can be read solely in English by the priest at a low mass.
(permitted but not required) At a high mass it must first be read in latin by the priest. The custom in this situation is for the priest to read the Epistle and Gospel in English when he mounts the pulpit before he preaches the sermon. ( see article # 26 of Unniverase Ecclessie)

If you encounter any problems REMEMBER DO NOT CONFRONT A PRIEST ABOUT THIS. Our priests want to follow the rubrics . They are learning the mass for the first time . It is VERY difficult for our priests to learn the mass on their own. They cannot become experts over night. Often you may think the priest is doing something wrong and in fact he will be following the rubrics and you are the one that is incorrect. If you encounter some problem. DO NOT get upset, be thankful your priest is taking the time and effort to say the mass. When you can, in charity and humility mention the problem to the priest IN PRIVATE !!!! If done in charity and privately the priest will be glad to correct the problem. After that thank the priest for his vocation and ask for his blessing.
