TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC MISSION TRIP

The FSSP announced its second mission trip. It will be for 16-21 year olds. The age limit may be modified on a case by case basis. They will take 28 young people on this trip. Next year the FSSP will be traveling to the parish of Santisimo Sacramento in Piura, Peru. The trip is from August 2-14,2013. The parish has a great variety of charitable works that it oversees and with which you will be able to assist. Among other tasks, you will prepare and distribute food and clothing to poor families who are sponsored by American Families. At the end of the trip you will spend a day visiting the shrines of Lima, known as the “City of Saints,” and the FSSP hopes to be able to offer a Solemn High Mass in one of these places.

If you are going to the March for Life in Washington, great news!!! Una Voce announced that there will be a pontifical  mass at the end of the march. Here are the details:

Shortly after the conclusion of the 40th March for Life in Washington, D.C., Catholics from across the nation will gather with Chicago auxiliary bishop Joseph Perry and members of Juventutem Michigan for a 6:00 p.m. Sung Pontifical Mass at St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church. (This liturgy is variously known as the “Traditional Latin Mass,” “Tridentine Mass,” “Extraordinary Form Mass,” “Usus Antiquior,” etc.)
The Mass is open to all ages. After Mass, clergy and young adults (18-35 years old) will gather nearby for fine conversation, an introduction to the International Juventutem Federation, and a simple pizza & wine dinner. Facebook.

LATIN MASS GROWS IN SAVANNAH DIOCESE

GREAT NEWS!

THE LATIN MASS SOCIETY OF THE GOLDEN ISLES IS PROUD TO SAY THAT THE FIRST LATIN MASSES IN BRUNSWICK GA IN 50 YEARS WAS A FANTASTIC SUCCESS. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE WERE ESPECIALLY SURPRISED HOW MANY PEOPLE SHOWED UP TO THE SATURDAY MORNING LOW MASS, WHICH WAS PRETTY MUCH AN UNADVERTISED MASS, WITH 29 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE. AT THE SUNDAY HIGH MASS FATHER CELEBRANT, SAID HE DISTRIBUTED 100 SACRED HOST, NOT TO MENTION THE PEOPLE WHO DID NOT RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION. I WAS VERY HAPPY TO HEAR MANY PEOPLE SING SOME OF THE RESPONSES AT THE HIGH MASS, SUCH AS " ET CUM SPIRITU TUA", "AMEN", " LIBERA NOS A MALO", ETC. AFTER MASS SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT HE ACTUALLY SAW PEOPLE CRYING IN THE BACK OF THE CHURCH OUT OF LOVE FOR THIS MASS WHICH THEY HAD NOT SEEN IN FIFTY YEARS. DURING THE COFFEE AND DONUTS AFTER MASS, PEOPLE WERE SHOWING ME THEIR TRADITIONAL MISSALS THAT THEY WERE GIVEN BEFORE THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF OUR ALTAR SERVERS, INCLUDING MY FATHER WHO SERVED  FOR THE FIRST TIME  AT THE HIGH MASS. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK OUR ONE CHOIR MEMBER FROM JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA, BECAUSE WITHOUT HIS EXCELLENT SINGING WE COULD NOT OF HAD A HIGH MASS. I ALSO THANK ALL OF THE PEOPLE AT THE LATIN MASS COMMUNITY IN SAVANNAH GA WHO HELPED US IN NUMEROUS WAYS.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK FATHER MATHEW MCCARTHY FOR DRIVING FROM   TO THE GA COAST TO SAY THESE HOLY MASSES. A SPECIAL THANKS SHOULD ALSO BE GIVEN TO ALL OF OUR GROUP MEMBERS WHO HAVE ALL EXTREMELY HELPED IN OUR EFFORT TO RESTORE SACRED TRADITION TO THE GA COAST. HOPEFULLY WEWILL HAVE MORE TRADITIONAL MASSES IN THE SOUTH EAST GEORGIA AREA VERY SOON, AND EVENTUALLY, IF OUR LORD WILLS IT, HAVE A TRADITIONAL PARISH IN THE SOUTHEAST OF GEORGIA.
