EPIPHANY WATER BLESSING VIGIL OF EPIPHANY
The only place in the Atlanta Archdiocese where Epiphany water will be blessed will be on the Vigil of the Epiphany, Monday January 5th starting at 5:30 pm. at St Francis de Sales in Mableton Georgia , Atlanta Diocese. The ancient blessing of Epiphany water is done during vespers on the eve of the great feast day. The blessing is long &; complex and the water is very powerful. This water is used during the Epiphany Blessing of homes that begin the following day and throughout the octave. You may take up to a quart of Epiphany Water home with you.

EPIPHANY HOME BLESSING
The only place in Georgia where you can have gold, incense, myrrh, and chalk blessed on the Epiphany will be at the parish of St Francis de Sales on January 5th, see web site below, for mass schedules for the Feast Day. The English translation is below for you to follow along.

EPIPHANY HOUSE BLESSING TRANSLATION

It is that time of year for your priest to come to your home and bless your house during the Octave of the Epiphany. He will use the Epiphany water blessed at vespers on the Vigil of the Epiphany and the chalk and incense blessed on the Feast of the Epiphany. Here is the English translation of the ritual.
( Please note the Father of the House will lead the priest from room to room with a lighted blessed candle-also all who enter for the first time after the blessing do so with their right foot)

As the priest comes into the home he says:
P: God's peace be in this home.
All: And in all who live here.
P. Ant.: Magi from the East came to Bethlehem to adore the Lord; and opening their treasure chests they presented Him with precious gifts: gold for the great King, incense for the true God, and myrrh in symbol of His burial. Alleluia.
Canticle of the Magnificat
Luke 1.46-55
P: "My soul * extols the Lord;
All: And my spirit leaps for joy in God my Savior.
P: How graciously He looked upon His lowly maid! * Oh, see, from this hour onward age after age will call me blessed!
All: How sublime is what He has done for me, * the Mighty One, whose name is 'Holy'!
P: From age to age He visits those * who worship Him in reverence.
All: His arm achieves the mastery: * He routs the haughty and proud of heart.
P: He puts down princes from their thrones, * and exalts the lowly;
All: He fills the hungry with blessings, * and sends away the rich with empty hands.
P: He has taken by the hand His servant Israel, * and mercifully kept His faith,
All: As He had promised our fathers * with Abraham and his posterity forever and evermore."
P: Glory be to the Father.
All: As it was in the beginning.
Meanwhile the home is sprinkled with holy water and incensed. At the end of the Magnificat the antiphon is repeated. Then the priest says Our Father (the rest inaudibly until:)
P: And lead us not into temptation.
All: But deliver us from evil.
P: Many shall come from Saba.
All: Bearing gold and incense.
P: Lord, heed my prayer.
All: And let my cry be heard by you.
P: The Lord be with you.
All: May he also be with you.
Let us pray.
God, who on this day revealed your only-begotten Son to all nations by the guidance of a star, grant that we who now know you by faith may finally behold you in your heavenly majesty; through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
Responsory: Be enlightened and shine forth, O Jerusalem, for your light is come; and upon you is risen the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ born of the Virgin Mary.
P: Nations shall walk in your light, and kings in the splendor of- your birth.
All: And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
Let us pray.
Lord God almighty, bless + this home, and under its shelter let there be health, chastity, self-conquest, humility, goodness, mildness, obedience to your commandments, and thanksgiving to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. May your blessing remain always in this home and on those who live here; through Christ our Lord. All: Amen.

Bless each room with incense and Epiphany Water. Write the Magi’s initials, connected by Crosses, and the year’s numbers over the exterior doors with the blessed chalk, like this:

MM+K+M+B+XXVI

BLESSING OF SAINT JOHN WINE ATLANTA ARCHDIOCESE

RARE BLESSING OF SAINT JOHN WINE

Immediately following the last gospel of the 9:00 am mass on Saint John's Day ( December 27th 2025) at the parish of Saint Francis de Sales in Mableton, the priests will bless the wine of Saint John. Make sure your wine is placed before the altar of Saint Joseph prior to mass because the blessing is at the last gospel.

HERE IS THE RITUAL SO YOU CAN FOLLOW ALONG

BLESSING OF WINE on the Feast of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist

At the end of the principal Mass on the feast of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist, after the last Gospel, the priest, retaining all vestments except the maniple, blesses wine brought by the people. This is done in memory and in honor of St. John, who drank without any ill effects the poisoned wine offered to him by his enemies.
P: Our help is in the name of the Lord.
All: Who made heaven and earth.
P: The Lord be with you.
All: May He also be with you.
Let us pray.
If it please you, Lord God, bless + and consecrate + this vessel of wine (or any other beverage) by the power of your right hand; and grant that, through the merits of St. John, apostle and evangelist, all your faithful who drink of it may find it a help and a protection. As the blessed John drank the poisoned potion without any ill effects, so may all who today drink the blessed wine in his honor be delivered from poisoning and similar harmful things. And as they offer themselves body and soul to you, may they obtain
pardon of all their sins; through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
Lord, bless + this creature drink, so that it may be a health- giving medicine to all who use it; and grant by your grace that all who taste of it may enjoy bodily and spiritual health in calling on your holy name; through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
May the blessing of almighty God, Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit, come on this wine (or any other beverage) and remain always.
All: Amen.
It is sprinkled with holy water. If the blessing is given privately outside of Mass, the priest is vested in surplice and stole and performs the ceremony as given above.

THIS IS THE RITUAL OF THE TOAST WITH THE WINE THIS EVENING

When the blessed wine is drunk on his Feast Day (Dec. 27), it occurs before dinner as a toast to St. John. The head of the household lifts a glass towards another and says, “I drink you the love of St. John.” Then the other person replies “I thank you for the Love of St. John” and then turns to the oldest person, lifts her glass, and says, “I drink you the love of St. John…” –and on it goes down the line until each has been toasted.

INDULGENCE OF ALL SOULS DAY AND OCTAVE

Between Noon of ( All Saints Day) November 1 and Midnight of All Souls day ( Nov 2nd) , a person who has been to confession and Communion can gain a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, for the poor souls each time he visits a church or public oratory and recites the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory be to the Father six times. This is a special exception to the ordinary law of the Church according to which a plenary indulgence for the same work can be gained only once a day.

Also, the faithful who, during the period of eight days from All Saints Day, visit a cemetery and pray for the dead may gain a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, on each day of the Octave, applicable only to the dead. Here is a simple invocation for the dead, called the "Eternal Rest" prayer:

English translation:
Eternal rest grant unto him/her (them), O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him/her (them). May he/she (they) rest in peace. Amen.

Latin:
Réquiem ætérnam dona ei (eis) Dómine; et lux perpétua lúceat ei (eis). Requiéscat (Requiéscant) in pace. Amen.

Catholics also pray this prayer for the dead anytime throughout the year, and whenever they pass a cemetery. Many families pray a Rosary nightly for the dead throughout the Octave of All Souls, replacing the Fatima prayer with the Eternal Rest prayer
