AMAZING NEWS BISHOP TO ATTEND LATIN MASS IN SAVANNAH

New Bishop of Savannah H.E. Stephen Parkes

Below is a  Missa Coram Episcopo

INCREDIBLE NEWS PLEASE PASS THIS ON AND MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND AND MAKE SURE YOU SEND A NOTE TO THE BISHOP TO THANK HIM

Una Voce is pleased to break the news that the newly consecrated Bishop of Savannah will attend the Latin Mass in his cathedral on Sunday November 15th 2020 at 1:00 pm for the mass of the 24th Sunday after Pentecost (in your missal it is the mass of the 5th Sunday of Epiphany and this day is also the Feast Day of Albert the Great).  For directions see: https://savannahcathedral.org/   His Excellency will sit in choro so the mass will be a missa coram episcopo.  His Excellency will also preach the sermon. This is extremely rare and this will be the first time this has occurred in the Savannah Diocese since Vatican II.

Some rubrical notes on a missa coram episcopo:

In a Missa coram Episcopo, the bishop recites the prayers at the foot of the altar together with the celebrant, with the other ministers saying the responses, and reads the texts of the Mass at the throne from a second Missal. He also blesses the incense at the throne, which is then brought to the celebrant at the altar, blesses the subdeacon and deacon after the singing of the readings, and the water at the Offertory. For the consecration, he kneels at the center of the sanctuary, so the subdeacon moves to the Epistle side; and he gives the final blessing.

IT IS CRITICAL THAT WE HAVE A LARGE CROWD AT THIS MASS. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND AND PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND BRING FRIENDS. THE BISHOP NEEDS TO SEE THAT THERE IS SUPPORT FOR TRADITION IN HIS NEW DIOCESE.

AFTER MASS PLEASE SEND A THANK YOU CARD TO THE BISHOP THANKING HIM FOR ATTENDING THIS MASS

SEND THANK YOU CARDS AND NOTES TO:

His Excellency Stephen D Parkes

Bishop of Savannah

222 East Harris Street

Savannah Ga 31401

I think it is really amazing that he is doing this. God bless him!

You are correct. Actions speak louder than words so he is sending a message that he is NOT against the Latin Mass. I urge everyone to thank the Bishop and send him notes and cards of thanks.

I watched part of that Mass a few weeks ago on YouTube. I think it was posted on the Diocesan website. But, it seems to have been removed, since I cannot find it anywhere now. Does anyone know where it is, or why it’s been taken down? It was celebrated by Fr. Daniel Firmin JCL, with Bishop Parkes as a concelebrant. I found his excellency’s homily during that Mass, but the recording of the entire Mass is just, seemingly, not out there anymore....

Una Voce has received no info on why the video is no longer on Youtube. If we find out we will post a reply. Merry Christmas to all Una voce members and supporters.
